Inhalte: The module comprises
a) phylogeny, taxonomy and ecophysiology of fungi and pro-tists
b) Biogenesis, function and properties of biominerals and biopolymers and their importance for science and research.
c) Microbial auto-ecology (abiotic factors temperature, water activity, pH-value, radiation)
d) antagonistic and mutualistic interactions between microorganisms, plants and animals
e) selected processes of biocorrosion and biodeterioration
f) types of wood rot, microbial attack on concrete and steel.
Zielgruppen: The students are familiar with the ecological position of eukaryotic microorganisms (especially fungi and protists) in the biosphere and their interactions with inanimate and animate nature. They understand the ecophysiological background of microbial material transformation processes and know about their central importance for the state of our environment. The students are familiar with microbial/fungal auto-ecology. They know the forms of interactions between microorganisms and plants, microorganisms and animals as well as special interactions between fungi and insects. They have an overview of syntrophic microbial communities and are familiar with the microbial corrosion of various materials.
 
Voraussetzungen: Basic knowledge of microbiology and ecology is assumed.

Leistungsnachweise: The credit points are acquired if the module examination is passed. The module examination consists of an oral examination lasting 15 minutes in the form of a group examination.
10 credit points can be acquired through the module. The module grade corresponds to the grade of the examination performance.  


 
Arbeitsaufwand: The total workload for the module is 300 hours. Of this, 120 hours are spent attending lectures and 180 hours are spent on self-study, including preparing for the examination and taking the examination.
Arbeitsmittel: Lectures (6.0 SWS), exercises (2.0 SWS) and self-study. The teaching language is English.
