- Cosmic microwave background and the PLANCK 2018 satellite data
- Primordial nuclidid abundances and Big Bang nucleosynthesis
- Gravitational waves - since GW170817 a new window to the universe
- Dark matter: indirect evidence and the hunt for the ghost particles
- Dark energy, accelerated expansion of the universe and type Ia supernovae.
- The lecture slides will be made available via SELMA for participants with TU Dresden login who registered for the course.

The class is aimed at students in the Master's course (M.Sc. Physics) and advanced students in the Bachelor's course (B.Sc. Physics).
The class Modern Cosmology is part of Vertiefungsgebiet Kern- und Teilchenphysik in the M.Sc. Physics course. It is accompanied by an exercise session every other week.
The class is open for all students who want to participate. It is okay to only listen to the lectures (2 SWS), or to attend both lectures and every two weeks the exercises (2+1 SWS). For students wishing to include Mordern Cosmology in their oral exam, it is recommended to follow both lecture and exercises.
The class can also be selected as a topic in the Rigorosum, as part of the PhD defense in physics.

| Voraussetzungen: |
Previous knowledge of quantum mechanics or special relativity is not required.
|
| Leistungsnachweise: |
For students who attend the lectures, I can issue a certificate for 2 SWS (VL). For students who attend lectures and exercise session, I can issue a certificate for 2+1=3 SWS. In order to qualify for the 3 SWS certificate, students must submit a solution for at least one question each in at least three exercise sessions, and orally present at least one solution in the exercise sessions.

It is required to listen attentively and to take notes. I do provide the lecture slides, but they contain only a small part of the contents of the course. Other contents are explained orally or written on the blackboard.
