Inhalte: Topological physics of quantum materials stands as one of the most dynamically developing areas of today's condensed matter research. Topological quantum effects at the atomic scale can manifest as unique physical properties at the macroscopic level with exceptional robustness against perturbations. Key concepts of topological condensed matter physics discussed here include Berry phase and Berry curvature, Chern number, spin-momentum locking and the bulk-boundary correspondence. Based on these the physics of Quantum Spin Hall Insulators and Chern Insulators in two dimensions, three-dimensional Topological Insulators, Weyl Semimetals, and Topological Superconductors will be discussed. The course will also address specific materials, relevant experimental probes, and potential applications in new technologies.
