Einführung in lokal kompakte Gruppen
|
Inhalte: |
We will see how to split up a locally compact groups into a connected group and a totally disconnected group, and then how each of these can be studied.
Here is the planned outline:
- Crash course on the necessary background from topology
- Topological groups
- How to split up a locally compact group into a connected and a totaly disconnected group
- Connected groups: The Gleason-Yamabe theorem, the Lie group - Lie algebra correspondence
- Totally disconnected groups: Van Dantzig's theorem, profinite groups, groups acting on graphs
|
Voraussetzungen: |
Basic group theory and basic notions of metric spaces are prerequisites. Basic topology would be an advantage, but I will give a crash course on it at the beginning of the course.

Webseite: |
There will be a course webpage on the webpage of the lecturer.
There is also a Matrix chat:
