Finding Douiret – Project House
Wintersemester 2020
Im Rahmen des 3.HE, des 5.HE (Vertiefungsentwurf) und des Diploms "Finding Douiret - Projekthaus" fliegen wir zwischen dem 10. und 17. Oktober 2020 nach Tunesien.
Die Exkursion beginnt in Tunis, wo wir die alte Medina besuchen und Stadtviertel wie Sidi Bou Said und La Goulette erkunden werden. Danach fahren wir in der Wüste nach Süden in die Region Tatouine und verbringen 4 Nächte in Douiret, wo wir in einem ursprünglichen, in ein Gästehaus umgewandelten Trogloditenraum übernachten. Neben der Besichtigung und Analyse des Projektstandorts werden wir während unseres Aufenthalts in Douiret zahlreiche interessante Kulturstätten wie Chenini, Ksar Ouled Soltane und die Stadt Tatouine besuchen. Diese Besuche werden dazu beitragen, den jeweiligen Kontext vollständig zu erfassen. Darüber hinaus wird vor Ort eine Reihe von Workshops stattfinden, um den Entwurfsprozess besser vorzubereiten. Zum Abschluss der Exkursion werden wir zur Insel Djerba fahren, wo wir einen Tag lang interessante lokale Architektur und Viertel erkunden werden. Am Ende ist geplant, direkt von Djerba nach Deutschland zurückzufliegen.
Während der gesamten Exkursion werden wir von Prof. Mouldi Chaabani geführt. Prof. Chaabani ist Architekt und Direktor der Ecole Supérieure d'Architecture d'Audiovisuel et de Design (ESAD), Experte für das gebaute Erbe Tunesiens.

As part of the 3.HE, the 5.HE (Vertiefungsentwurf) and Diploma „Finding Douiret – Project House“ we will be visiting Tunisia between the 10th and the 17th October 2020.
The excursion will start in Tunis where we will visit the old Medina and explore neighbourhoods like Sidi Bou Said and La Goulette. We will then drive down south in the desert to the Tatouine region and spend 4 nights in Douiret sleeping in original troglodite space transformed in a guesthouse. Besides visiting and analysing the project site, while in Douiret we will visit plenty of interesting heritage sites such as Chenini, Ksar Ouled Soltane and the city of Tatouine. These visits will help in fully grasping the context in question. In addition, a series of workshops will take place on site to better prepare for the design process. To conclude the excursion we will drive to the island of Djerba where we will spend a day exploring interesting local architecture and quarters. At the end it is planned to fly back to Germany directly from Djerba.
During the whole excursion we will be guided by Prof Mouldi Chaabani. Prof. Chaabani is an architect and the director of the Ecole Supérieure d'Architecture d'Audiovisuel et de Design (ESAD), expert in Tunisian built heritage.
